As Large Language Models (LLMs) gain prominence, creative professionals are increasingly intrigued by their potential applications in creative workflows. One promising area is screenwriting, where LLMs can contribute to brainstorming, script feedback, and refining language. Yet, mainstream conversational AI platforms often lack the nuance to align with users' specific artistic visions, leaving them feeling overshadowed by the AI. In this talk, we will present wr-AI-ter, an application that we designed and developed specifically for screenwriting. With this application, users can collaborate with AI on scripts while maintaining a sense of artistic control. Drawing from our experiences at the University of Television and Film Munich, we will illustrate how wr-AI-ter can be effectively integrated into media education, including screenwriting workshops and various other film teaching contexts.
