AI tools in media post production are here and now and increasingly more prevalent and powerful. The high-powered algorithmic tools of Adobe, DaVinci Resolve, and smaller third party vendors have been increasing our efficiency, allowing us to focus more on the creative details of storytelling rather than on the somewhat tedious and repetitive tasks formerly required of our editors, colorists, and sound mixer/designers. This workshop will demonstrate both AI tools and the pedagogic approaches to AI that I have developed over the last year and a half within the Baltic/Nordic region. The workshops have exposed our students to not only these tools, but to the ethical and sustainability concerns surrounding their use and have been instrumental in confronting the skepticism or fear that artificial intelligence in general has provoked. As an educator who has seen paradigm shifts occur in our industry before, I believe it is vital that we introduce AI into both our pedagogic methods as well as into specific courses of filmmaking practices.
